Rare Birds

After graduating from the Australian National University, Emma packed up and left her hometown of 23 years to move to Melbourne and finish her first novel: Rare Birds. It examines contemporary ideas around mental health, femininity, and what it’s like to be nineteen. The manuscript is currently in preparation to send to a literary agent.

The manuscript of Rare Birds has been edited by Zoya Patel – Editor and Founder of Feminartsy and former Editor-in-Chief of Lip Magazine. In 2015 Zoya was a selected editor for Seizure‘s Viva La Novella Prize, and the book she edited (Welcome to Orphancorp by Marlee Jane Ward) won the 2016 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Young Adult Fiction.
