MY WORK IS IN MEANJIN! … kind of! In a blog post published on 18 November, 2019 Penguin Literary Prize winner and all around great person Imbi Neeme mentions my book Watching Cartoons with Boys as one of the books she read while moving house recently. Meanjin is one of Australia’s best, and oldest, journals

My short story “Metronomy” is shortlisted for an award
Last month I had some very welcome news in what has been a weird and unsettled time: a short story I wrote was shortlisted for an award! I started writing my short story “Metronomy” during the 2018 Daylesford Freefall Writing Workshop, and last month I found out it had been shortlisted for the 2020 Apollo

Earlier today Birdcatcher Books announced that they will be closing their operations. Birdcatcher Books were a small publisher run by Lynn Fowler and who held regular writing competitions and published works in several anthologies. Thank you to those who sent me messages
2018 in Review and 2019 Writing Goals
Most writers I follow online have already done their stocktake of 2018 and set goals for 2019, so I thought I’d have a crack at that here on my website. In summary, 2018 was a very good year for me. Book sales of Watching Cartoons with Boys still ticked over and gave me a passive
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)
If you enjoy creative writing and use the internet a lot, you probably already know about NaNoWriMo. NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is an annual writing challenge where you can commit to finishing a 50,000 word draft of a novel by the end of November. It’s been running since 1999 (I think I first heard
